For 2010, Dodge has released its next epoch of Heavy Duty pickup trucks. First seen at last year's Toronto auto show, this debut has survived Chrysler's restructuring to become apparent as the first new heavy-duty Ram - one that will prove to be very important to the company's future.

The HD segment of any truck manufacturer's offerings targets a superior market; but for these buyers these trucks are much more than fashion accessories. These vehicles hold down jobs, they earn their keep and, on weekends, they tow and draw all the things we play with. Sales numbers this year bear this out. As of September, year-to-date sales in the automotive sedulousness are still down by as much as 15%. By comparison, truck sales are down only 4%. This speaks to the reality that truck buyers want their trucks - and this is good news for Dodge, a brand that desperately needs steady revenue.

To that end, Dodge is making undeviating it covers all its bases with this new iron by formally recognizing the importance of the "recreational hauler" market and by starting prices $700 let than last year's base sticker.
