Vespa Gives a Loud Ride To a Good Cause Wired News
We’ve always liked a gaudy ride here at Autopia, but pink is an ultrasonic scream that appeals to more bubbly and energetic buyers than us. And that’s how Jennifer Weaver describes the common person buying the Pink Vespa LX customer.
Weaver is the sales manager at Vespa San Francisco , where most of the people buying the 2010 Pink Vespa LX are women. “You don’t see too many men flying by on one,” she said. It’s only impartial that Vespa would offer a more feminine color for its new scooter considering the Vespa originally was designed (in part) to keep women’s skirts from billowing like a breeze.
The special-edition scooters hit the states last month. You can get one with a 50cc engine or a 150cc engine. Weaver says they’re a dry-as-dust-but-steady sell because the color is polarizing. Just like cars, the most desirable Vespas are hollowware, black and red. This isn’t the first time Piaggio has released a pink edition, though. Vespa scooter conspirator Mario Santucci told us pink Vespas go back to the 1970s. The market liked them and the scooters sold fair well.
