Perchance it wasn't.

My wife and two sons and I were driving home, all of us upset, from an unexpected Saturday night tumble to a veterinary ER. We had learned that our sweet yellow Labrador, a wonderful dog we've loved since she was a puppy, was close to extermination.

While bringing her back home well past midnight, the kids were sad and exhausted and I wanted to get off of I-75 and just get everybody to bed.

But we passed two wrecked cars blocking the hand northbound lane. The roadway was dark, no emergency vehicles were there and I felt I had to stop.

We called 911 as I drove well good old days the wrecked cars and parked on the grass to the right. I told my family to stay in the car.

Northbound cars slowed as they passed the wrecked cars, using the accurately lane, and drivers were apparently being warned by someone who had walked south and was waving a flashlight.

It seemed just suitable enough to cross to the wrecked cars to see if anyone was still inside.

I did, and could see just well enough to determine that no one was inside either car, a huge relief. I quickly left the roadway and went toward the extensive median.
